Ablation
RFA uses focused ionized energy delivered through a specialized electrode to the thyroid nodule. This energy immediately stops the nodule from growing and causes it to shrink over time. Because RFA is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure, only a local anesthesia is used. In fact, the patient is awake during the procedure so that the physician can ensure that the patient doesn’t experience vocal changes, called dysphonia.
